Ubisoft Montpellier is a French video game developer and a subsidiary of Ubisoft. The company was founded in 1994; originally it was a graphics studio Ubisoft Pictures, but in 2011 it merged with several other Ubisoft-owned properties in the area; it was then renamed as Ubisoft Montpellier. The studio's best-known games are Beyond Good & Evil (2003) and the Rayman (first released in 1995) series. Beyond Good & Evil is an action-adventure video game available for multiple platforms. The plot follows Jade, an investigative reporter and martial artist who wants to reveal an alien conspiracy occurring worldwide. Rayman is a platformer video available across multiple platforms. The series is set in a fantastical world which features a wide range of settings. The main protagonist is Rayman, a magical being known for his courage; his goal is to save the world from numerous villains. Ubisoft Montpellier is also famous for creating the UbiArt Framework game engine.
