About
LucasArts Entertainment Company is an American video game publisher and licensor founded in 1982, a subsidiary of LucasArts Films. It also developed video games until 2013. Then LucasArts was acquired by The Walt Disney Company. In 2013, Disney halted all internal development at LucasArts and laid off most of its staff. It is well-known for its graphic adventure games, games based on the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. The first adventure game developed by Lucasfilm was Labyrinth (1986), based on the movie of the same name. Electronic Arts performed development of games based on the Star Wars franchise; most of the game from the series are shooters. Before The Disney Company bought it, LucasArts developed the Tales of Monkey Island series in joint with the Telltale Games.
