Free WeekendThis weekend, everyone can play Smash+Grab for free!
Now is your chance to team up (or face off) with your friends amid the dystopian multiplayer mayhem. Deck out your crew in unique style, craft your weapons to get the upper hand, and battle your way to the top.
Since our Early Access launch, we’ve patched the game 7 times and made 63 big improvements, including Crew Commands, crash and bug fixes, optimisations, gameplay and matchmaking tuning, and the addition of new unlockable items.
We’re going to keep up that pace with regular bug fixes and tweaks, as well as major content updates, which will add new characters, maps, modes and more.
The streets of Union Bay are calling – it’s time to get in there and join in the chaos.
Free Weekend runs from 12pm PDT October 13th to 12pm PDT October 18th, 2016.
Update NotesPatch Notes - October 12, 2016Hey Smash+Grab friends! Today’s update is our biggest yet – full of optimizations, bugfixes, gameplay tuning and more. See the notes below for full details.
We’ve also got 13 new country-themed bags which are available for all players to unlock, and everyone will receive a new Zombie Mask at login. (More ghoulish masks will arrive with next week’s release….)

Stability and Optimization
Stability improvements and crash fixes

Matchmaking
Fixed a scenario where imbalanced matchmaking could occur
Disabled ‘Leave’ and ‘Disband’ buttons upon going into the matchmaking queue to ensure the private room is not disbanded unintentionally
Items and Progression
Added a new Zombie Mask, available at login and equippable on any Leader
Added 13 new Country-themed bags that are randomly awarded by levelling up your account
Balance and Gameplay
Fixed an issue in Ransack (Upmarket) where not all the crafting component types were available in all of the phases:
Swapped out 2 medium size Gord stores for medium size Lux stores in phase 2
Swapped out 3 small Lux stores for 3 small Gord stores in phase 3
The total amount of cash and the location of stores has not changed, just the item types that came out of these loot stores
This allows crafting components of all types to be obtained in all phasesTuned guards to be less aggressive towards individual Leaders and instead spread out to attack their Crew (to lessen the feeling of being ganged up on by guards)
Tuned AI Leaders so they will help to escort a nearby box carrying ally back to the subway in the Take Back game mode
Smoothed minion movement when they steer and attempt to avoid other characters
Character / Visuals
Fixed an issue with Tenblade skin shader so she’s no longer tinted green during match intros
Fixed some geo crashing and black patches on various vanity items
World / Visuals
Fixed a bug where video screens were not playing when switching VFX quality settings from “low” to any other quality setting
Fixed the aspect ratio of the “directory sign” video and “attract” video screens at the entrance to the top section of Steel City
Front End / Lobby
Improved the clarity of the message that is displayed when AFK users are disconnected
Fixed a bug where the party Leader could exit a match and start a new one before the other party members had a chance to return to front end
Fixed a bug where sometimes teammates/opponents would enter matches with incorrect loadouts when they switched Leaders while in a Party
Fixed a bug where if a player left the game during the pre-match lobby, the UI didn’t update their username
Fixed an issue where getting above level 99 could cut off the last number in the FE
Fixed an issue with Tenblade’s soldier unlock image and soldier unlock titles
Fixed a bug where newly unlocked perks didn’t display a breadcrumb badge (so you weren’t properly guided to find it in the FE)
Fixed a bug where the friends list and chat bar would overlap
Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug where sometimes, when players entered coop mode, they would be labeled as AI and did not have camera control
Fixed a bug where picking up a second stamina buff while one was already active did not refresh the timer or refill stamina
Fixed a bug where crossbow bolts that got stuck in barricades would remain after barricade is destroyed
Fixed a bug where floating crossbow bolts were sometimes present at the start of the match
Fixed a bug where minions wouldn’t help Leaders break prize crates in Practice mode
Fixed a bug where Ranged AI Leaders would fire at strongboxes from very far away
Fixed a bug where Ooze’s Sticky Bomb would sometimes attach at incorrect distances from its target
Tuned the speed of the Super Nailgun’s tracers to better match the projectile’s speed
Tuned the look of the muzzle flash and impacts from Scatter’s basic Nailgun
Fixed a bug where sometimes (from the receiver's perspective), Scatter's shots with the Super Nailgun caused a muzzle flash that could be seen through walls, and bullet tracers appeared to go through wallsPatch Notes - October 12, 2016Balance and Gameplay
Re-balanced the speeds that Leaders VS Soldiers loot
Soldiers and LTs now loot faster, while Leaders loot slightly slower than before
This allows you to use your Crew Commands to a much greater effect now – for instance, you can park your Crew in front of a store and tell them to loot, and they will be much more effective than before – allowing you to move away and even loot another nearby store
The net time to loot is the same as before – Soldiers and LT’s just play more of a role nowScatter can now plant his Nailbomb quicker
Increased the activation cost of Tenblade’s Dire Wounds by 20%

Lowered Tenblade’s base health regeneration rate to 1.15 hp/second (was 2hp/sec)
Increased Scatter’s base health to 240 (was 230)

Lowered the threshold to trigger Reaper’s Early Release to 20% (was 25%)
Reduced damage on Reaper’s ability to 40 (was 50)
Auto Nailgun Ice Mod:
Increased Damage by 45%

Tuned the steering for Upscribe’s charge blade attack - he stabs like you want him to now!

Matchmaking
Fixed bug where user was unable to match make certain modes if their leader closes client while in lobby
Fixed bug where changing your character during the last 10 seconds could cause you to have a broken loadout
Added automatic re-queue for match making if you have been disconnected from the websocket
Players in a party will now be removed from the matchmaking queue if they disconnect
Players now earn a badge for leveling up their account to milestones of 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100. This badge displays on the Loading Screen and can be seen by other players
Other Bugs & Optimisation
Fixed a bug where players would sometimes perform actions before respawning, and occasionally slide around when spawning in
Fixed a bug where leaders would sometimes respawn doing a hit reaction
Fixed a bug where Scatter and Tenblade were not getting the proper buff when activating their Rally Command (F Key). (Their crew got the buff but the leaders were missing it.)
Fixed a bug where some Achievements were broken for accounts that participated in the Closed Beta
Fixed Reaper’s Passive so it auto-kills immediately, instead of 1 second late
Fixed a bug that could cause your friends list to look wrong when you got a message.
Optimised glass hit effect to look better and cost less performance

About the GameSMASH+GRAB is an underground competition where gangs of the future battle it out for loot, weapons, and infamy inside a corporate urban dystopia. Assemble your crew and team up with other players to fight, loot, and craft your weaponry to come out on top.

Each player leads a gang of five: A leader, a lieutenant, and 3 soldiers
